Tenders invited for stabilisation works

The tender return date for the slop stabilisation works in Peebles, has been extended.

Works on the scheme for Scottish Borders Council are expected to commence late 2012/early 2013 and take approximately 5 months to complete. The works are A72, Dirtpot Corner in Cardrona will combine a horizontal alignment and carriageway width that falls below the current standard set out in the DMRB.

The adjacent land to the north of the carriageway is also known to be unstable and over the years landslide and fallen trees have led to the closure of the road causing significant traffic disruptions and disturbance.

The project will involve extending the rock netting and possibly undertaking a small degree of soil nailing or soil re-grading of materials in areas as highlighted by a recent ground investigation.
