Bidding launched for £165m Edinburgh tram extension A contractor is being sought to deliver the second phase of the line from St Andrew Square in the city centre to Newhaven near the city’s ocean terminal in Leith. It comes after the council approved the outline business case for the extension last week. The developer plans to transform the 2.4 ha Quarry Hill site into a £300m cultural hub centred around the Leeds College of Music, City College, and the West Yorkshire Playhouse. The project, which has been named SOYO, will include two 16-storey residential towers, housing private rented apartments, which will be delivered by the group’s PRS arm Moda Living. Race starts for £50m Nottingham bus station revamp Nottingham City Council has begun its search for a contractor to build a new £50m bus station and multi-storey car park in the city centre. The council plans to build a multi-storey car park with space for 1,150 cars and a new bus station on the site of the former Broadmarsh car park.
