Glenigan has been awarded operational accreditation by Ordnance Survey (OS), reinforcing the accuracy, robustness, and reliability of its construction data.

The accreditation follows Glenigan’s appointment last year under a four-year contract to supply Ordnance Survey with construction intelligence.

Ordnance Survey background

Ordnance Survey is Great Britain’s National Mapping Service and is responsible for the surveying, production, and maintenance of geographic information which underpins the production of some of the most detailed and frequently updated mapping in the world. Glenigan provides a Change Intelligence Managed Service to streamline OS’s data analysis processes, enabling production teams to capture changes more efficiently. This relationship enables OS to provide more accurate, timely, and high-quality location data to its public and private sector customers. OS has recently awarded Glenigan with operational accreditation.

Operational accreditation is awarded only to suppliers that consistently meet Ordnance Survey’s stringent standards for data quality, efficiency, and reliability. Glenigan’s accreditation reflects both the strength of its construction intelligence and its proactive approach to continuous improvement.

Operational benefits

OS utilises Glenigan data to provide updates at key development stages which in turn efficiently creates demand for production teams to plan and capture changes to the built environment. Glenigan is proactive in the relationship and has consistently demonstrated quality, efficient processes to extract and supply timely changes to OS specification. Continuous improvement has been evident, and this has enabled OS to analyse the data more effectively month on month.

Glenigan supports Ordnance Survey through a combination of expert researchers and AI-backed technology. With over 160 global researchers, more than one million validation calls annually, and comprehensive tracking of all UK planning applications and decisions, Glenigan provides a current and forward-looking picture of construction activity nationwide.

Commenting on the contract, Glenigan, said:
“Winning the Ordnance Survey contract and receiving operational accreditation is a testament to the consistency, accuracy, and dedication of our research teams. Being trusted by a globally respected authority like OS underlines Glenigan’s leadership in construction intelligence and our focus on delivering the highest-quality data to our customers.”

Richard Tyrrell, Senior Production Manager at Ordnance Survey, added:
“OS is globally trusted for the accuracy of its location data, and so the award of this contract to Glenigan makes perfect sense to strengthen our ability to deliver precise and reliable information. It’s set to benefit our diverse range of customers, creating a more efficient and insightful way to navigate the market. It will streamline our data analysis capabilities, breaking down data barriers, and speeding up the decision-making process.”

Glenigan is also an officially accredited data supplier for the Office for National Statistics and provides data to a number of UK Government departments.
