Birmingham seeks contractors for £2bn framework Birmingham City Council has begun the search for contractors to deliver a new £2bn framework covering jobs across the West Midlands. The council, through its procurement body Constructing West Midlands (CWM), has published a prior information notice for the framework, which will comprise new-build, fit-out and refurb work in the area. It will replace CWM’s major capital works framework, which currently uses Balfour Beatty, Bouygues, Morgan Sindall and Wilmott Dixon and comes to an end in September 2019. Skanska wins £141m luxury Knightsbridge deal Skanska has landed a £141m deal to build a high-end mixed-use scheme in central London. The contractor has signed a deal with Saudi-based investor Olayan Group to build the K1 commercial and residential development in Knightsbridge. Chelsfield is working as developer on behalf of the Olayan Group for the building, which is situated between Knightsbridge’s Harrods and Harvey Nicholls stores.
