Today, Glenigan announces it has been selected by the Office for National Statistics (ONS) as an official provider of UK and Northern Ireland construction data.

This achievement, which followed a rigorous two-year assessment programme, is affirmation of the quality and accuracy of Glenigan’s data and research.
It firmly establishes Glenigan’s position as one of the construction sector’s go-to resources for market research and intelligence, already used by the majority of the Top 200 contractors, and widely consulted by the UK media for insight on breaking news.
Supplying the Office for National Statistics with sub-national and sub-sector construction data, Glenigan will deploy its portfolio of powerful services to deliver exceptional results.
A team of over 150 professional researchers, the largest in the market, is positioned globally to offer a 24/7 service, ensuring no stone is left unturned.
Blending the physical and digital, this unrivalled expertise is enhanced by a suite of AI-backed data mining tools which harnesses machine learning to provide comprehensive and up-to-date information.
Putting the scale of the work into context, they collate and crunch information on all new planning applications and decisions made across all Planning Authorities in the UK, as well as many separate unique and exclusive sources that are monitored daily.
The business makes over one million telephone calls and conducts around 250,000 hours of research every year to locate and engage key decision-makers on projects to garner the most robust and comprehensive database of every planning application and thousands of non-planning projects across the UK.
This gives Glenigan a comprehensive, contemporary picture of activity taking place currently or in the future, which can then be passed on to ONS.
Commenting on the news, Robert Davis, Group Content Director at Glenigan says, “Becoming an official source for ONS is a landmark achievement and testament to the experience and skill of our highly professional and highly connected research team. As we celebrate our 50th anniversary this year, it feels even more significant as we continue to deliver our ongoing goal of providing our customers with the highest-quality insight and intelligence available.”
Glenigan provides data to a number of government departments, including the Department for Business and Trade (DBT), The Scottish Government and the Department for Levelling up, Housing & Communities (DLUHC), and is already a member of the ONS Construction Statistics Steering Group.
