Contractors appointed for biomass plant

MVV Environment Ltd have appointed CNIM as Technology Contractor and Clugston Group Ltd as the civil engineering contractor for the construction of a new Biomass Power Plant at Ridham Dock in Sittingbourne, Kent. The £37.5 million plant will be capable of processing up to 160,000 tonnes of non-recyclable waste wood per annum to produce renewable energy. Approximately 25MW of power and up to 35MW of low grade steam heat could be procured, with the plant saving about 540,000 tonnes of CO2 emissions a year by diverting the non-recyclable waste wood away from landfill.
