Balfour Beatty: supply chain finance scheme is 'one hell of a step forward' for industry

 
When the UK’s biggest contractor changes the way it pays suppliers, the industry sits up and takes notice. Balfour Beatty has claimed success in its trial of a new supply chain finance scheme, and hopes its terms will set a new template for the industry. Having trialled the new scheme – where suppliers can draw down payment earlier than their terms for a fee – between March and September, the contractor is rolling out a ‘first phase’ to its supply chain.

Carillion lands £100m Sussex energy deal

 
Carillion has been appointed preferred bidder for energy saving initiatives worth up to £100m by West Sussex County Council. The Sussex Energy Saving Programme will be worth up to £100m to Carillion over 10 years from 2014 and detailed planning for the programme will now begin. It aims to deliver energy savings of £30 million per annum for Sussex residents over 20 years. Carillion chief executive Richard Howson said: “We are delighted to have been selected as the delivery partner for this important programme of energy saving refurbishments in Sussex.

Muse lands £52m Warrington regeneration scheme
 
 
Muse Developments has won the contract to deliver a £52m retail-led regeneration scheme in Warrington town centre. Morgan Sindall’s urban regeneration arm will work as delivery partner with Warrington Borough Council on the 8.4-acre development. Plans include creating a shopping, restaurant and leisure complex on Bridge Street, including a modern market hall, a cinema and a new civic centre.
