Shepherd Construction has landed two retail contracts worth £13 million in London and the South-east.
The contractor will build a £9m mixed-use development on behalf of the Cooperative Insurance Society on Oxford Street and a £4m expansion of the Clarendon Centre in Oxford’s Cornmarket Street on behalf of Lothbury Investment Management.

Morgan Sindall has been selected by Network Rail to build a £15.9 million North-west operating centre in Manchester.
The operating centre in Gorton will provide a base from which all of Network Rail’s operations in the region will be run and will accommodate its personnel and control equipment.

Olympics and Shard structural steel giant Severfield-Rowen will make 50 people redundant after issuing a profit warning this afternoon.
Its board expects UK profitability in 2012 to be “materially lower”, down to £1 million pre-tax profit for the year. The firm posted a £6.8m pre-tax profit for 2011.

Five contractors are set to compete to win a £20 million deal to build more than two miles of new road under the A75 Hardgrove to Kinmount scheme.
The five companies bidding for the Scottish project are: McLaughlin & Harvey, Balfour Beatty Civil Engineering, John Paul Construction, I & H Brown and RJ McLeod (Contractors).
