Insight gained from working for a client will help Mace’s fit-out arm Como become the market leader in London, its new managing director has told Construction News.

Former Tesco property services director Trevor Bacon joined Mace as its managing director for commercial fit-out arm Como in December 2013.

Taylor Wimpey factory closure a ‘great shame’

The planned closure of a Taylor Wimpey-owned timer frame factory has been described as a “great shame” by the Structural Timber Association’s chairman, with up to 168 jobs now at risk.
 
Taylor Wimpey confirmed yesterday it will be shutting its Prestoplan site based in Preston, Lancashire.

Kier Property secures third high-profile Reading city centre contract in five years
 
Kier’s development arm Kier Property has been selected by Reading City Council as preferred bidder to deliver a mixed-use regeneration scheme in Reading’s city centre.
 
The project will include retail and residential developments on the site, around Hosier Street, where the town’s Civic Centre is located.

Galliford Try’s Partnerships business has won three affordable housing and extra care contracts worth a combined £55.2m.

The ExtraCare Charitable Trust has chosen the firm to build the £32m Earlsdon Park retirement village in Coventry. It comprises 262 apartments for sale and rent, as well as health and leisure facilities available to local residents and older people in the wider community.
