Wates buys Walsall-based housing maintenance provider Purchase Group

Breaking: Wates is targeting expansion in the response maintenance sector in the Midlands and the North after the acquisition of the £30m-turnover, Walsall-based Purchase Group. Purchase Group has five offices, annual turnover of £30m and 120 direct employees.

Bam wins £14m Sheffield school project

Bam Construction has been appointed by Sheffield City Council to build a £14m school on the site of the former Don Valley stadium in the city. The school, built for for 1,200 pupils, will feature a four-storey secondary school, a two-storey primary school and a central area to be used for events. Bam will use a modular design to complete the main build in under a year and to minimise the time needed on site.

Morgan Sindall MD Steve Elliott to become BW Interior's new chief executive

Former group managing director of Morgan Sindall fit-out businesses Overbury and Morgan Lovell, Steve Elliott has joined rival company BW Interior as its new chief executive and chairman. Mr Elliott will lead the company’s growth, with support from BWI managing director Colin Ogden and the board.

Contractors appointed by Ministry of Justice to £400m deals

Amey and Carillion have been appointed to FM deals by the Ministry of Justice, worth up to £200m over five years. The contractors will carry out works including maintenance, works and building projects, management of prison stores and waste disposal and collection. The MoJ said the deals would save taxpayers around £115m over the five years.
