Scape seeks two firms for £2.5bn FM and civils frameworks

Scape will procure two new frameworks worth up to £2.5bn this year, with single contractors to be appointed for four-year FM and civils deals.

Speaking to Construction News at MIPIM, Scape chief executive Mark Robinson said the FM framework was being set up in response to client demand, particularly among local authorities.

Morgan Sindall wins Walsall shopping centre scheme

Morgan Sindall will redevelop a West Midlands shopping centre as part of a town centre regeneration.

The contractor will redevelop Old Square Shopping Centre in Walsall as the first phase of regeneration of the town.

The scheme involves the demolition of part of a Tesco supermarket and surrounding units and construction of a 54,000 sq ft development to house fashion store Primark and Mid-Counties Co-Operative supermarket.

Interserve wins £38m pharma centre deal

Interserve has won a £38m deal to construct a new pharmaceutical research centre.

The contractor will design and build the National Biologics Manufacturing Centre for The Centre for Process Innovation in Darlington.

The centre will provide laboratory space, clean rooms, open plan space and pilot plant areas, office, conference and training facilities.

Work is expected to starts on site in April 2014 and should complete at the end of March 2015. 

Carillion JV wins £56m Salford office scheme

A Carillion joint venture has won a £56m project to build an office and car park in Salford.

The team consists of Carillion, Ask Real Estate and Tristan Capital Partners.

Carillion will build the scheme and has made an equity investment in the project.

The scheme, on the site of the former Manchester Exchange railway station in the Greengate Embankment area, will start in June and finish in spring 2016.
