Balfour Beatty has named National Grid director Philip Aiken as its new chairman.

Mr Aiken will replace current chairman Steve Marshall when he retires from the board on 25 March.

In addition to his position at National Grid, Mr Aiken also holds non-executive roles at Newscrest Mining and Aveva Group, the latter of which he is chairman.

Skanska UK's turnover grows 10% on back of contract wins

Skanska UK’s turnover grew by 10 per cent in 2014 on the back of a number of major project wins. The infrastructure giant’s UK arm saw revenue rise from £1.22bn in 2013 to £1.34bn last year. However, the company’s operating income declined slightly over the 12-month period, falling from £41.9m to £40m.

Morgan Sindall shifts focus in the South

Galliford Try set for £40m local authority HQ

Galliford Try has reached financial close on new £40m headquarters for Northamptonshire County Council.
The 17,600 sq m four-storey building is part of a strategy to consolidate the council’s existing offices and regenerate an area on the south side of Northampton town centre.
