Berkeley Group's £2m safety aimed at cutting on-site accident

Berkeley Group has launched a £2m fund to encourage companies and individuals to come forward with ideas to reduce accidents on site.

Grants of between £250 and £250,000 will be made available over the next two years to anyone with an idea that will lead to safer sites.

HSE appoints new chief inspector of construction

The Health and Safety Executive has appointed Peter Baker as its new chief inspector of construction to replace interim Philip White.
 
Mr Baker is currently head of HSE’s chemicals, explosives and microbiological hazards division. He will take up the role on 1 April, replacing acting interim chief inspector Mr White.

Circle and Kier end housing repairs partnership

Circle Housing and Kier have agreed to end their contract for Kier to deliver responsive repairs and maintenance for Circle Housing in its central region.
 
The contract is on target to finish at the end of April 2015, as part of Circle Housing’s plan to improve its repairs and maintenance service in London.
