Winners revealed for £560m NHS Wales frameworks NHS Wales has picked seven contractors across two new construction frameworks worth a total of £560m. The firms have been selected across NHS Wales’ national and regional Supply Chain Partner Frameworks, which could run for the next six years. The frameworks will cover the design and construction of new builds, refurbishments and associated infrastructure schemes for hospitals and health centres across Wales. Balfour wins Hinkley Point C cable contract Balfour Beatty has secured a deal with National Grid to provide electrical cabling at the Hinkley Point C nuclear plant. The contractor will deliver the cabling works contract to connect the power station’s new reactor to the grid. Balfour will design, supply and construct a 8.5 km-long 400 kV cable from Hinkley to a new substation in Sandford, north Somerset. Read the full article on the Construction News website.

Willmott Dixon wins £47m Birmingham University deal Willmott Dixon has bagged a £46.5m deal to build the University of Birmingham’s new School of Engineering. The university picked the contractor to deliver the facility, which will house the School of Engineering and the UKRRIN Rail Digital Systems Innovation Centre. Birmingham’s new building will include a number of research and lab spaces, as well as offices and meeting areas for the students. Read the full article on the Construction News website.
