Architects Glenn Howells from Birmingham have recently been appointed on a £10 million development for Southampton City Council to development plans for the Former Tyrrell and Green Site at Above Bar Street in Southampton.
The new Arts Complex is to be a city centre venue housed in a new commercial and residential development in the Northern Above Bar area of the city on the site of Tyrrell & Green, a former John Lewis Store. It is planned to comprise flexible performance spaces, suites for sound dubbing and editing film and video, approximately 600 sqm of gallery space for contemporary art, plus recording studio, dance studio, workshop spaces, meeting rooms, bar and cafe.
