A  planning application for a 5,750-home development in Ashford, Kent, has been submitted to Ashford Borough Council.

Scheme comprises a mixed use development of up to 5,750 residential units, in a mix of sizes, types and tenures;

  • Employment areas, up to approximately 10,000 sqm gross floorspace of Class B1 use;
  • Retail use, up to approximately 10,000 sqm of class A1 to A5 uses;
  • Education facilities, including a secondary school of up to 8ha and up to four primary schools of up to 2.1ha each;
  • Community use (class D1) and leisure uses (class D2) of up to 3,000 sq m gross floorspace;
  • Local recycling facilities; Areas of formal and informal open space, including outdoor sports pitches, informal/natural green space, children and young people equipped space, allotments and parks and recreation grounds;
  • Installation of appropriate utilities infrastructure as required to serve the development, including flood attenuation works, SUDs, water supply and wastewater infrastructure, gas supply, electricity supply (including substations), telecommunications infrastructure and renewable energy infrastructure;
  • Transport infrastructure, including provision of two accesses on to the A28, two accesses to Magpie Hall Road, a Park and Ride with a maximum of 600 parking spaces and a network of internal roads, footpaths and cycle routes;
  • New planting and landscaping, both within the Development and on its boundaries, and ecological enhancement works;
  • and Associated groundworks
