UK Economy

  • Consumer Price Inflation fell to 3.4% in February, down from 3.6% in January. The decline was largely thanks to lower gas and electricity bills.
  • In the three months to January 2012, seasonally adjusted estimates of international visits to the UK fell 1% versus the previous three months. Earnings from these visits to the UK fell 5% over the same period.
  • Gross mortgage lending held steady in February and was an estimated £10.7 billion, according to the Council of Mortgage Lenders. This is almost identical to January’s gross lending total of £10.65 billion and 14% higher than February last year.
