Willmott Dixon to launch early payment scheme

Willmott Dixon has announced it will introduce an early payment scheme next month for subcontractors to access payments after 28 days, for an interest fee.

After enquiries from Construction News, Willmott Dixon revealed its EarlyPay scheme will enable suppliers contracted under Willmott Dixon’s standard 42-day payment terms to receive payments 28 days after the valuation date, for a 2 per cent interest fee.

Competition watchdog to probe Interserve’s £250m Rentokil acquisition

The Competition and Markets Authority will probe Interserve’s acquisition of Rentokil’s Initial Facilities for £250m last month.
The Office of Fair Trading, which has now been replaced by the CMA, announced the call for evidence.
It said it is considering whether the merging of Rentokil’s facilities management business with Interserve’s Support Services arm could result in a substantial lessening of competition within the UK market.

Laing O'Rourke wins Manchester City stadium expansion

Manchester City FC has chosen Laing O’Rourke as the construction partner for the expansion of the Etihad Stadium.

Laing O’Rourke led construction of the stadium itself for the 2002 Commonwealth Games, before it became Manchester City’s home in 2003 after its move from Maine Road.

Morgan Sindall lands £14m London schools contract

Morgan Sindall has been appointed to extend six primary schools in the London Borough of Newham, creating 1,035 new pupil places.

The contractor was awarded the £14m job through the £1bn Improvement and Efficiency South East framework.
