Miller chief predicts 'big increase' in revenue in 2013

Miller Group is expecting at least a "double-digit" percentage increase in revenue for 2013 after returning to profit last year, its chief executive said today. Keith Miller also slammed the length of PFI procurement as “ridiculous” and said the new 18-month procurement rule for private finance 2 projects is still “far too long”, adding: “It’s not like we are building something to go to the moon.”

Severfield-Rowen shareholders approve £48m rights issue

Severfield-Rowen shareholders have voted in favour of a rights issue to raise £48 million to help reduce its debts. The steel contractor announced a rights issue at the end of last month after reporting an operating loss of £18.2m in contrast to last year’s profit of £14.2m, with revenue down to £256.6m from £267.8m. A major factor was an overrun on the contract to build the Leadenhall Street ‘Cheesegrater’ skyscraper in London.

Breyer and Mitie set up repair JVs with A2Dominion

Housing provider A2Dominion has formed special joint venture companies with two of its contractors for repairs and void works worth more than £150m over the next 10 years. The group has appointed Breyer B-Line and Mitie as limited liability partnership partners under a 10-year agreement starting from 1 April. The joint venture companies have been named Pyramid Plus and will deliver repairs to A2Dominion’s 34,000 properties across London and the South East.

McLaren Construction scoops £43m Asda deal

McLaren Construction has won a £43.5 million deal with developer Bericote Properties to build a new Asda centre in Bristol, CN can reveal.The firm will build a new 616,000 sq ft chilled distribution and Asda service centre in Avonmouth. The contract is McLaren’s third major new build deal on behalf of Asda Distribution in a year and it will work alongside consultants Davis Langdon, Chetwoods Architects and Hydrock to complete the project within a 40-week timeframe.
