Merger could turn hostile as Carillion meets Balfour Beatty shareholders

Carillion has held meetings with Balfour Beatty shareholders to explain how it believes a merger would find overhead reductions of £175m annually by the end of 2016.

The contractor said it envisaged a refocused business that would focus on contract selectivity and where operating profit would eventually be divided between two-thirds services and one-third construction business.
