Work has commenced on Oakgate's £90m Vangarde retail park development in York, after being delayed by an unseasonably cold Easter and the re-housing of Great Crested Newts. Caddick Construction has been awarded the contract to build to centre, delivering 339,000 sq ft of retail space over 50 weeks. The scheme will see the city’s first John Lewis store open, as well as a Next and a flagship Marks and Spencer’s store.
