Great Ormond Street Hospital is seeking a contractor to redevelop its cardiac wing, in a deal worth an estimated £50 million. The contract, for Phase 2B of the works, will see demolition of an existing seven storey building, and its reconstruction to level eight to align the floor levels with the rest of the hospital. It will then include fit-out of the building, except for level one, including the replacement of all M&E plant. Clinical wards will feature on most levels, with one floor of operating theatres and recovery area. The ground floor of the building will be occupied by radiology and nuclear medicine departments thorough out the contract. The work is expected to take around 40 months, with work starting on the 2nd December 2013 and finishing on the 28th April 2017.
