Civil orders seem to be buoyant but the members of the Civil Engineering Contractors Association (CECA) do not agree.
The latest CECA state of trade survey shows a significant slow-down in work among members with a continued downward trend among smaller members that was evident in the poll for the first quarter of this year.
This drop is a slump in preliminary work for new housing developments, while there was also a negative balance in new work coming through in the roads, water and sewage sectors.
